Purpose Of Car Headlights | Why use 2 headlight Instead Of 1?

What Is The Purpose Of Car Headlights | Function Of Car's Headlight

The primary task of a car's headlight is to illuminate the area at the front of your vehicle while driving at night. Most of us know this! But there is more to know which you are missing out. If you are an automobile enthusiast or professional driver, you just need to know more about the headlight of the car. Here, you will learn the most important function and purpose of car headlights.

What is a Car Headlights?

A car headlight is a headlamp or light bulb installed on the front of the vehicle. It must be placed on the front to illuminate and remove darkness over the area of the road in front of your car.
Headlight plays a very important role in the design and safety of a car. They must be placed at the front only, their shape and size can be changed but not the place of installation.
A four-wheeler or car running on the road seems to be perfect in daylight. But, as soon as sunsets and darkness cover the environment, we can't see anything on road. Here, we badly need to turn on the headlight. Without headlights, we can't drive and accidents may occur while driving with zero visibility.
Modern car headlights are electrically operated and show us the larger area at night time. You will be shocked to know that, In the early days, when cars were just invented, at that time, there were no batteries, or electrical headlights made, so engineers were used to putting lanterns in the headlight holder. It used to work as a headlight for them.

What is the purpose of Headlights in Car?

The purpose of your headlight in a car is to illuminate the front area of the vehicle. It lights up the road or area at the front of your vehicle you are having. Yes, it is the main need of installing a headlight at the front part and the front face of the vehicle. But, apart from this, there is another major purpose of headlights too. It is to ask for a pass from the vehicle running in front of you. At night time we use blinker or dipper. That is also the work of headlight. Cars headlights can also be used for signaling purposes. Just to indicate the drivers coming towards you.
Have you ever thought about why two headlights are installed in the car? Just one light is enough to illuminate as we see on the train.
There is one big reason for this, first of all, one single light is installed on the bike also. If we place just one headlight in the car, then at night it will be challenging to find out what's coming towards us. While driving at night, we judge the size of upcoming vehicles by seeing their light, especially the number of glowing lamps. If they are 2 it means a car or four-wheeler is coming. If it is one then it denotes a bike is coming.

Function of Headlight

By you you have great knowledge about a car's headlight, let's summarize it in short. Here is the short point which says the function of headlights in the car.
  1. To illuminate the front area of the car in the nighttime.
  2. To ask pass from the vehicle ahead of you.
  3. To indicate the other drivers at night.
  4. Some Led DRL is also used with cars' headlights to improve the design of the car.

Types of Car Headlights

A car or vehicle's headlight comes in different shapes and sizes depending on the vehicle's body and design. As most seen, they can be rectangular, round, square, or triangular in shape. And in modern cars, we see only curved lights which look great and bulbs glow brightly. It all depends on the type of bulb used. They are followed as:
  • Halogen light (Conventional lighting mechanism)
  • Normal LED (Widely used)
  • SMD LED (widely used)
  • Xenon light (Future and concept cars)

Headlight Color

Currently, The color of the headlight is light yellow or white, or blueish white for high-end vehicles.
The color of the headlamp is the most important thing we ignore in vehicles. It can be dangerous for consumers.
There is no doubt that if the light glows higher then it will improve the visibility quality. But on the other hand, it can be dangerous for other vehicle drivers. A high beam of light directly affects the other driver's eye. When the two-vehicle approach each other and if they have turned on the high beam, then it feels difficult to see the front of the vehicle. The upcoming vehicle's light beam directly enters your eyes and makes you blind for a few seconds. In this case, a high chance of an accident may occur.
This is why manufacturers try to keep the light low as possible. Big branded cars like BMW use lights with advanced technology which throws the light everywhere on the road but not on the upcoming vehicle. This setup is expensive and currently available in high-end cars only.

High Beam And Low Beam Light

When the bulb in your headlamp is glowing at its full potential and throwing light as far as possible, then it is called High beam light.
When the bulb is glowing a little dim and throwing light just in front of your car bonnet and the ray of light is falling on the road. Then, it is called a low beam.
For driving in cities, it is always recommended to use low beams. Few places have strict rules for this.

Final words

Finally, I tried to cover as much as possible regarding the car headlight. Hope you will be able to answer any questions regarding the purpose of car headlights. Headlights in a vehicle are one of the most important things to have. You must not run your car with a fused or broken headlight. Nowadays headlights in cars are as important as insurance of cars.
Headlights are so important that even traffic police can check the condition of your headlamp anytime. And if you are caught with bad lamps then you can be fined too.

What Is Fuel Feed System In Automobile?

Fuel Feed System In Automobile Welcome to another interesting article on Autoblogly. I have shared the entire details, parts, and types of the  fuel feed system  in automobiles. In each and every moving vehicle, the fuel is stored in the tank, and in order to start and run the vehicle, the fuel stored in the tank must reach the engine's combustion chamber. This system is available on SI as well as Compression Ignition Engines. Fuel Feed System - Automobile  The process of delivering fuel from the tank to the combustion chamber is known as the fuel feed system. In a fuel feed system, the fuel can be delivered in many ways. It means there are different methods of delivering the fuel from the tank to the engine. I have covered a little about all of them. But the most important and advanced one is CRDI. This one is currently used at present and this system can be found in each and every new vehicle. So, before going further. I want to start from the beginning so that it will...

CRDI (Explained In Very Simple Words)

CRDI - Common Rail Direct Injection (Hyundai) CRDI means a common rail direct injection system. It is a type of fuel delivery system used in most cars and vehicles. In this system, fuel is taken out and delivered into the engine's combustion chamber. CRDI is the name used by Hyundai and other brands that call the same system different names. Like, DICOR , CRDE, and DDIS , the three are the same but are used by various companies like TATA , Mahindra , and Maruti . What is CRDI? CRDI is the most advanced form of fuel delivery system which is fully automatic and controlled by ECU . And here, ECU works on the data provided by the actuators and sensors. This system is mostly used by Hyundai( a motor company).  Is CRDI and MPFI the same? No, both are different. CRDI is used in diesel engines whereas MPFI is used in petrol engines. Parts/components used in the CRDI system The main working components of the CRDI are: Fuel tank Fuel filter Pump Pressure Regulating Valve High-pressure Pu...
